Having already shown interest in Bradley Barcola last summer, Liverpool have reignited their pursuit ahead of the summer transfer window. The Merseyside club have recently entered into talks with the PSG winger’s agent.
Despite a contract running until June 2028, Bradley Barcola faces an uncertain future at Paris Saint-Germain. Not considered an indispensable player in big matches by Luis Enrique at the end of the season, the 23-year-old forward could look elsewhere this summer.
Liverpool in talks with the player’s camp
Having already shown interest in the French international last summer, Liverpool have revived their interest ahead of the summer transfer window. According to journalist Nicolo Schira, the Merseyside club have recently begun talks with the Parisian winger’s agent to assess the feasibility of a transfer.
In this matter, the European champions are reportedly not entirely opposed to the idea of the former Olympique Lyonnais player leaving, although his contract runs until June 2028. Yan Diomandé (19) is one name being mentioned as a potential replacement. “It’s a team I’ve loved since I was a child,” the Ivory Coast international admitted on Wednesday at a press conference. RB Leipzig are asking for €100 million to let their star player go.
Barcola: tempted to leave?
For his part, Barcola is naturally wondering what the future holds for his time in Paris. With 48 appearances this season, he has once again been a regular under Luis Enrique. However, he started the Champions League matches from the back of the bench, beginning with the quarter-final second leg against Liverpool (0-2). He played 38 minutes against the Reds, then 20 and 25 minutes against Bayern Munich (5-4, 1-1), as well as 37 minutes in the final against Arsenal (1-1).
As at the end of the 2024–2025 season, the former Gone player ultimately found himself behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué when those two were in form. A position in the pecking order he failed to challenge on the pitch, with a clearly insufficient attacking output following an ankle sprain in March: 1 goal and 1 assist in eleven appearances. It remains to be seen whether Barcola is ready to push for a more prominent role.
Transfer market – OM: Roma preparing bid for Greenwood!
With reports suggesting he could leave Marseille this summer, Mason Greenwood is set to see AS Roma step up their efforts to sign him. The Italian club are set to make an initial bid for the English winger.
Will Mason Greenwood still be at Olympique de Marseille next season? It doesn’t look likely, despite the Englishman’s stated desire to continue his time in Marseille. “I hope to stay,” he remarked on 12 May on the sidelines of the UNFP Awards ceremony, during which he was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season.
OM’s financial situation makes this wish difficult to fulfil. The Marseille club, which is looking to raise funds, knows that the former Manchester United player represents the highest market value in its squad. The Olympique management hopes to secure at least €50 million, excluding bonuses, for their striker, bearing in mind that Manchester United will receive 40% of the sum.
Roma set to make an opening bid
Today, the hottest lead points to AS Roma. The Italian club has made Greenwood a priority at the request of their manager, Gian Piero Gasperini. The latter is said to view the Marseille player as the type of player capable of taking his team to the next level and bolstering their ambitions in the race for the Serie A title. This season, the Giallorossi finished third in the table, fourteen points behind the champions, Inter Milan.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma are preparing to make a move with an initial offer estimated at €40 million, including bonuses. The offer is still below Marseille’s asking price, but the Roman club is hoping to leverage Federico Balzaretti’s position within the OM hierarchy to facilitate discussions between the two sides. For his part, Greenwood is keen on the Roman project, particularly given their participation in the upcoming Champions League. Watch this space…
