Kylian Mbappé’s behaviour continues to be the talk of Madrid. The Frenchman is once again being lambasted by the Spanish press this Friday.
Kylian Mbappé thought he’d be left in peace. At least, for a little while. Since Wednesday, all eyes have been on Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni, who have been at loggerheads in a two-act row. But the Frenchman is getting no respite. The Spanish media continue to pile pressure on the France captain and the Casa Blanca’s star striker. Aside from updates on his injury and whether or not he will feature in Sunday’s Clásico, his attitude has once again come under scrutiny. A few days after his getaway to Italy with Ester Exposito, KM10 is causing a stir in Madrid once more.
Yesterday, as he was leaving the Valdebebas training ground in his car, he appeared to be in fits of laughter in front of the media, for no apparent reason. Shortly before, it had emerged that his teammates had clashed again in the dressing room. Whilst some media outlets speculated that he was not present at the time of the altercation, several publications confirmed that he was indeed there. His bursts of laughter at such a tense moment were not understood. This Friday, the Spanish press is not letting him off the hook, once again. On Onda Cero, one could hear: “Mbappé can’t drive off with the window down so we can see him laughing his head off.” The same on Cadena COPE.
The laugh too far
“Mbappé’s gesture that outraged Real Madrid fans. He left training laughing. The Real Madrid striker finds himself once again at the centre of a controversy after a week during which, whilst injured, he travelled to Italy (…) The final straw for Madrid fans was undoubtedly the image left by Mbappé after Thursday’s training session. The cameras of El Chiringuito captured the French striker leaving Valdebebas laughing, shortly after the latest altercation between Tchouameni and Valverde had been made public. This laughter stands in stark contrast to the situation at Real Madrid and once again places an injured Kylian Mbappé at the centre of the controversy.” AS is also stunned.
“Real Madrid is no longer making the headlines for its big wins or the spectacular goals scored by its so-called superstars, who are idolised and protected by astronomical salaries that should be suspended immediately. Either the members of the Fight Club apologise to the fans today, or they shouldn’t play in El Clásico. And Kylian, what are you laughing at?” asks Tomás Roncero. “Mbappé’s laughter has angered Real Madrid fans…,” adds El Chiringuito. On set, the pro-Barça journalist José Alvarez finished off the Frenchman. “Mbappé has destroyed Real Madrid,” the journalist declared. It’s not as if Spain is going to leave Mbappé alone now; he turned up at training in his car on Friday, still in fits of laughter.
Real Madrid announce sanctions for Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni!
Just hours after the violent altercation between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni, Real Madrid issued a statement announcing the sanctions.
The verdict is in. With Real Madrid currently embroiled in a sporting and institutional crisis, the Merengues’ season has taken a further unexpected turn in recent days. A symbol of a squad on the brink of collapse, the dressing room has completely imploded. Antonio Rüdiger took the law into his own hands by slapping Álvaro Carreras, but the violence reached its peak during an altercation between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni.
According to the Spanish press, the French international allegedly punched his teammate. This was denied by the South American, who nevertheless had to go to hospital to have a few stitches. Whilst chaos reigned in Madrid, one key question remained: what sanctions would the Madrid management impose following this sad episode? The exclusion of both players, putting them on the transfer market, a lengthy suspension, a fine… there were many options. Real Madrid have finally made their decision.
Valverde and Tchouameni have come through this very well…
“Real Madrid C.F. wishes to announce that, following the events that led to disciplinary proceedings being opened yesterday against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni, both appeared today before the investigator handling the case. During this hearing, the players expressed their deep regret for what happened and apologised to one another,” Real Madrid stated in a press release on Friday.
The club added: “They also apologised to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff and the supporters, and both have made themselves available to Real Madrid to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate. In these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial penalty of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thereby bringing the relevant internal proceedings to a close.” A fine of 500,000 euros – a penalty that is ultimately very lenient given the seriousness of the events…
