PSG continue to plan for the future. Following the signing of Renato Marin, the two-time European champions are on the verge of securing another promising Italian goalkeeper in the form of Alessandro Longoni, an 18-year-old talent from AC Milan.
Among the many issues to be resolved this summer, the goalkeeping situation is attracting particular attention. Gianluigi Donnarumma’s departure last year has reshuffled the deck, and Matvey Safonov has just completed a historic season as first-choice goalkeeper. Is that enough to secure his status as number one for good? Nothing could be less certain, as discussions are currently underway at the PSG Campus. Lucas Chevalier’s future also remains unclear following a difficult season that could lead to a loan spell or even a permanent transfer. Added to this is the progress made by Renato Marin. Having arrived from Italy with the label of a huge prospect, the young goalkeeper is continuing his development under the watchful eye of the Parisian coaching staff. All these questions are prompting PSG to continue investing in this key position despite the depth already present in the squad.
A Renato Marin-style move
And it seems the Parisian club’s management are set to repeat a move that has already proved successful for them. According to reports in L’Équipe, Alessandro Longoni is now on the verge of joining PSG. The 18-year-old Italian U19 international goalkeeper currently plays for AC Milan and is expected to sign his first professional contract in the French capital. The plan devised by PSG bears a strong resemblance to the one built around Renato Marin. Longoni would initially play for the youth team whilst regularly taking part in Luis Enrique’s training sessions. An ideal environment to continue his development within a club that has established itself as one of Europe’s leading lights in the development of young talent, at a time when PSG also announced on Thursday the signing of trainee contracts with Wassim Slama and Toumani Diagouraga, both from the U19 generation. The Parisian scouts have been monitoring the Italian goalkeeper’s progress for several months and have been impressed by his potential and room for improvement.
The young Italian’s profile is, in fact, a perfect fit for the Parisian coaching staff’s requirements. Having come through the ranks at AC Milan, Longoni has distinguished himself in recent years in several key matches at youth level. He particularly made an impression in the U16 championship final won against Atalanta in 2024 and then in the Coppa Italia Primavera final against Cagliari in 2025. But beyond his qualities between the posts, it is above all his comfort on the ball that has won over Luis Enrique. Since his arrival in Paris, the Spanish manager has placed great importance on the build-up play and the ability of his goalkeepers to participate in the game. An area in which Longoni already has a strong track record despite his young age. If the deal goes through, PSG will therefore add another Italian gem to their project. This strategy is now well established in the capital and could, in the long run, lead to even fiercer competition in a goalkeeping pecking order that promises to keep Paris buzzing all summer long.
OM: an offer on the way for Mason Greenwood
The Mason Greenwood saga continues. On Thursday, it emerged that an initial offer is being prepared for the Englishman.
Mason Greenwood is giving Julian Alvarez a run for his money. For the past few weeks, the Argentine has already established himself as the star of the 2026 summer transfer window. But in recent days, the Englishman has been making more and more headlines. Last week, the Italian press revealed that the Bradford-born player has a preference for AS Roma. A club that has stepped up its efforts following its qualification for the next Champions League campaign. The player’s father is reported to have spoken with the Italian club’s directors, who would like to finalise the deal as quickly as possible. Because the competition is fierce.
Especially as they must pay 40% of his resale value to the Red Devils. For some time now, a figure of €50 million (plus bonuses) has been mentioned. In Italy, some publications have even spoken of €55 million or even more. Clubs interested in signing Mason Greenwood are therefore warned and fully aware that Marseille are looking to secure a very substantial fee for their player. But AS Roma are clearly not prepared to meet the asking price. At least, not for the moment. On Thursday, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport revealed that Roma are set to make an initial offer of €40m, plus bonuses.
Negotiations have already begun, according to both publications. La GdS states that the Giallorossi are offering the player a salary of €4.5m per year. Some journalists in Italy add that Roma are offering him a contract until 2031 and that an agreement between the club and the player is close. However, neither La GdS nor the CdS have confirmed anything as yet. However, they note that the good relations between Marseille and Roma since the transfer of Robinio Vaz, as well as the presence of Federico Balzaretti, a former Roma player currently at Marseille, could help in this matter, which Gian Piero Gasperini considers a priority. The manager wants Greenwood and has asked his club to sign him as soon as possible. To do so, they will need to satisfy Marseille.
